The Effect of Stacking Sequence of Woven Bamboo on Mechanical Behavior of Fiber-Reinforced Composites

Natural fiber-reinforced composites are necessary to increase the use of polymer composite technology. This study investigates a specific type bamboo species named Gigantochloa Scortechinii (Buluh Semantan), collected from Bukit Larang Village in Melaka, Malaysia. Bamboo strips with average dimensions 300 mm x 5 0.5 were weaved plain-woven and divided into 2 6 laminate layers through E-glass epoxy subjected hand lay-up process produce hybrid composite. The prepared stacking sequence characterized their mechanical properties. behaviors tensile strength, modulus, flexural impact strength improved 2-layer laminated sequences. Still, opposite trend was observed for hardness value 6-layer mixed morphology scanning electron microscopy (SEM) results supported findings properties, which demonstrated interaction between EP fibers selected sequence. works give sound basis decisions engineers apply construction materials building decoration.
